What to do about the neck bands a questions I answered for a patient who had things done by another doctor

July 3rd, 2009

You didn’t mention what was most bothersome but I’m assuming its the banding in your neck. Botox can help improve this banding and will last 3-6 months. Another way of doing this is by doing a minimally invasive nullconcentrating in the neck area along with doing some work under the chin to release the bands. This approach is more invasive and another way of improving the way your neck looks is by grafting fat throughout your neck. You have to have enough fat to graft into the area. Usually the abdomen or stomach area is the best area to get this fat.

Looking for a non surgical way to make the double chin go away or improve it

July 3rd, 2009

There are many options such as losing weight. This can reduce the fatty deposits in your neck. However, depending on someone’s age, some of the double chin can be due to the muscles relaxing.

You have a neck muscle called the platysma that covers your neck from your chest to your face. This muscle during youth is tightly adherent to the underlying neck structures. When you age, the muscle eventually comes away from the neck’s deeper structures, contributing to the neck laxity and double chin appearance.

The main way to improve this is to do a null along with a lower facelift. Liposuction is a very minimally invasive technique to slim down the neck and tighten the skin as well. But sometimes, the results you get with liposuction is limited, and more advanced techniques are needed to make your neck more shapely.

Augmentation of your chin can help create a greater disparity between your face, chin and neck region. Facial Implants can help improve the angles of your chin with your neck. Other options that are less invasive include volumizing your lower face. This can have a tremendous impact on pulling the loose tissues up towards the area under your chin and also create more of a covering effect for the contents below your jawline.

The other way of improving this laxity is to use lasers to tighten the skin.  Laser Resurfacingombined can have significant tightening effects.  This can be done without making incisions and with lower downtime compared with traditional co2 laser resurfacing procedures.

low risk, inexpensive way to remove mole around eye?

July 2nd, 2009

There are many Laser Resurfacing out there that can Skin Lesion Mole Removal including q switched lasers anywhere from 650nm to 1200nm. Intense pulse light is another possible way but with less evidence and experience out there. Excising the mole is the most assured way to fully remove it but with the cost of a visible incision. If done right you can make that incision look super however. One thing to think about if there is any recent change to the mole you should consider getting it looked at by a pathologist and hence biopsied.

Options for removing flat moles

July 2nd, 2009

Surgical excision is probably the surest way to Skin Lesion Mole Removal but will leave a slight scar. These scars can be made to be less noticeable for you. Getting a biopsy, or pathological assessment is always something to think about. Lasers can help remove them without a scar but do not always completely remove them. Most of these are switched and have short pulses to target the moles without affecting structures around it and have less complications.

IPL is a newer possible treatment that can act like a laser but there is less experience with this approach. Lasers and IPL usually require more than one treatment and can require up to 4-6 treatments or more and the mole can come back sometimes.

Safe to do microdermabrasion or chemical peels before Active fx, Deep fx

July 2nd, 2009

There are different degrees that you can carry out microdermabrasion and chemical peels prior to Laser Resurfacing Depending on the depth, this could effect your laser treatment. If done deeper, the CO2 laser will then be more aggressive than the doctor had anticipated and could lead to complications such as scarring and pigmentation problems. I would not do any significant procedure such as the microderm and chemical peel for 2-4 weeks before the procedure to be safe.

microdermabrasion for wrinkles?

July 2nd, 2009

There are many types of microdermabrasion machines out there and they vary in terms of how much pressure is created. You can get a superficial peel from the most aggressive types and this can help with fine wrinkles. Again, mulitple treatments may be required to improve there appearance. Fractional resurfacing can help the vertical wrinkles. Volumizing can also help.

When you age, you lose volume in all areas of your face and your chin is no different. Bringing more volume into your chin may be partially the answer to this as well. That is why I developed the “the YoungLift”which is a revolutionary way to bring volume back into the face for a younger and natural look. Other ways to treat wrinkles are through fillers, CO2 resurfacing, chemical peels, and dermabrasion.

How do you treat bruising after lip augmentation

July 2nd, 2009

Prevention is the key to bruising and bleeding. You should always stop high dose vitamin E, anti-inflammatories, aspirin, herbal medication, supplements and any blood thinners 2 weeks before and after your injection or procedures.

These are elements that affect your body’s ability to clot your blood. Hence, if you are on these things during the time of your injection, you will have more of a chance for bleeding and bruising.

I also never suggest Arnica. I recently did a literature search and found that there is no scientific evidence to support Arnica’s ability to prevent bleeding and bruising. In fact, there were actually more evidence of adverse, or bad, effects from Arnica than good effects.

Genetics play a part and some people are just more prone to bruising.

In terms of the size or your lips, you can do something to correct that. The key here is to choose the right surgeon. You want someone that has a great understanding of facial aesthetics or what makes a face beautiful or not. I have discovered a theory on aesthetics that no one has been able to think of before. Our current theories, prior to my discoveries, have recently been found to be flawed.

If you are dissatisfied with the size and shape of your lips you can have an injection Lip Augmentation to reduce the size of it. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can take away Restylane. But you have to go to a surgeon that has experience with it to have a successful outcome.

Lip Augmentation can be done with fat injections as well.

I refined an amazing volumizing procedure called “the YoungLift”.  This is an innovative technique that volumizes your face to bring out the younger and natural you without looking like you had something done.  This is not a facelift and requires no incisions.  Only pinpoint puncture sites are used and these heal imperceptibly.  The YoungLift can be done without general anesthesia and without drains, and large bandages.  You also have a lot less downtime and discomfort compared with traditional facelift procedures.  Dr Young employs the very best techniques from around the world into one volumizing procedure and he uses his internationally acclaimed understanding of facial beauty to create the youthful volume you once had. The YoungLift techniques can help with filling up the lips as well.  You can great results with fat injections in the lips.

How much does lip augmentation cost?

July 2nd, 2009

Lip augmentation can be approached in a number of different ways and the costs vary. A lip lift entails an incision under your nose to lift the lips higher. The average for this ranges between 1k-2.5k give or take 1k.

Plumping up your lips with restylane usually entails 1-2 syringes, which ranges between 500-1000 give or take 100-200 dollars. Fat injections in the lips depends on how much you do but typically can range between 2-3k but lasts a lot longer than restylane and can achieve results that lasts 10 years or more depending on your health, genetics, how you care for it, etc.

Lip advancements are priced like lip lifts for most doctors. This entails making incisions in your mouth and advancing some of the lip in certain areas to plump up the lips to fit your desires. But all this depends on what region you are in and the personal pricing of the physician you see.

Desire to shape the top of the lip and how to do that

July 2nd, 2009

There are many options depending on how you really look.  Lip Augmentation in a specific way can change the shape of your lip dramatically and can be done with Facial Fillers like restylane, juvederm and fat injections which can last years.  Directed removal of portions of your lip can help as well and this can be discussed when you talk with your surgeon.  Having a doctor with a keen sense of facial beauty is key.  I discovered a Facial Beauty that has made a significant impact on finding out the answers that we have all been looking for called the Circles of Prominence.

Options for lip enhancement

July 2nd, 2009

There are many options for Lip Augmentation, including filling and surgical approaches. Filling up the lips is perhaps the best way to rejuvenate the lips.  Careful positioning of the filler substance within the lips will bring more youth to the lips and give it that sexy look. Fillers are a short term option and fat injections offer more long term correction.

Surgical procedures can remove small amounts of skin and can also be used to move around the substance of the lips inside your mouth to augment your lips in a beautiful way. But all of these mean nothing if your surgeon doesn’t have the right goals in mind.

Facial Beauty or the understanding of facial beauty is essential for surgeons to formulate these goals that we reach for. In the lips, your upper lip should really never be too much bigger than 1/2 the height of the lower lip. Also, the pucker created by the lip should be a certain size in the upper and lower lips.

Lip Augmentation can be done with fat injections as well.
