Why choose us for your Rhinoplasty – Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Bellevue

August 18th, 2012

Why choose us for your Rhinoplasty – Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Bellevue: Choosing someone to do your Rhinoplasty can be a huge decision. After all, they will be operating a your face. The nose is one of the most important shapes on your face and changing it is the easiest way to make the biggest impact on your appearance. In contrast, the rhinoplasty surgery is not the easiest surgery. In fact, it is the hardest surgery that plastic surgeons have to do. If your plastic surgery, says that your nose will be easy he is not really telling you the full story in my opinion. We, Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery,  have a lot of respect for this surgery and know that you can always get better. Well then lets talk about why you should choose us.

Rhinoplasty Nasal Tip Narrowing Hump Removal before after

First, we take more time than most in our opinion. Some say that we may be too slow. But we take our time with the most minute detail. For example, we were in a surgery on Thursday 8/16 and I was spending almost 20 minutes on just a small area on the bridge of the nose that was less than a mm in size. Although, this might seem excessive, I really wanted to make it perfect. Although, through a casual observers eye, you can notice those minor differences. Most surgeons would pass over this and say that it is close enough. My assistants can tell you that we go above and beyond to try to get the most perfect results. Perfect however is unattainable, but we really try to strive to ultimately be perfect.

Second, we don’t put a large number of cases on in a day. In fact, 99% of the time you are likely the only rhinoplasty that day and only the main surgery for that day. We don’t believe in having consults or other office appointments after our surgeries because we don’t want to feel rushed to see people while we are in surgery. We want to take the time to get the best results. These are some questions I would ask your surgeon. Many surgeons put 3-4 rhinoplasties on in a day. To me that is too fast to get good results. With this speed there are a lot of things that will be missed and glossed over.

Third, Dr. Young is fellowship trained and spent an extra specialized year beyond residency to learn just the plastic surgery of the face and neck.

Fourth, Dr. Young has trained with the best plastic surgeons in the world and has learned from the best in the world through his travels, visits and during medical missions. He fairly recently went on a Vietnam Trip with a doctor that has done some of the most famous people in the world.

Fifth, Dr. Young is always improving on his skills. On a regular basis, Dr. Young writes in his journal on his personal approach to rhinoplasty. Some surgeons have said that they have done 4000 -8000 noses in the past. This high number sort of assures you that they have experience. However, it has been my experience, that some of these surgeons do the 4001 rhinoplasty just like they did the first one. Talent plays a huge part towards how good a particular rhinoplasty surgeon is.  Hopefully, with the talented rhinoplasty surgeon his 4001 rhinoplasty is a million times better than his first!  Dr. Young tries to face each rhinoplasty surgery as his first one with all the wonder and excitement. But he tries to carry our the manuevers and complete the rhinoplasty like he has done a million of them.

Sixth, we spend a lot of time listening to you so that we can really get your thoughts on what you want with your nose. This helps us tremendously during the procedure. We will ask you questions like, if you were to choose would you lean toward having your tip smaller or larger than the computer morphed picture that we create together.  For your bridge, would you want me to skew towards making a stronger bridge or would you prefer more of a reduction and more of a slope to your tip. These are nuances that we like to have before going into the procedure. Our minor adjustments are more easily made with these thoughts in mind.

Seventh, we use computer imaging to get a better idea of what you want. Although, it is not entirely possible to create the morphed pictures exactly the way we design, we do all we can to come as close as possible. Most all of the time, we will ask the other staff to look at the before and afters to see if we have come as close as possible to get a second, third or fourth pair of eyes to judge where we are in the rhinoplasty process. We do this as a team.

Co2 laser resurfacing video for learning about Active and Deep Fx, Total and Max Fx by Philip Young MD of Bellevue:

August 11th, 2012

Co2 laser resurfacing video for learning about Active and Deep Fx, Total and Max Fx by Philip Young MD of Bellevue: I always get asked these questions on what is the difference between these terms regarding cO2 laser resurfacing. Active FX is the superficial component that shoots wider spot sizes that are superficial in the depth of penetration into the skin. Deep FX is the deep component that shoots narrow beams that reach deeper in the skin. The Active FX treats the sun spots and the superficial elements of the skin like the fine wrinkles. The Deep FX treats the skin by tightening the skin. When you combine the two it is considered total FX. Both Active and Deep are fractionated and within a 1 cm squared spot size there are more tinier spot sizes that are shot within the 1 cm but they are not completely covering the 1 cm spot. There is healthy untreated tissue within the 1 cm spot size to allow the healing to be faster and your recovery faster. Max fx is when you use Active Fx and the 1 cm spot size is completely covered within and it is not fractionated. With Max I usually do 2 passes to get even deeper.

Evaluating your surgeon by Dr. Philip Young Bellevue Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery

July 28th, 2012

Evaluating your surgeon by Bellevue Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery: It is really important that you like your surgeon. Intuition is a key component in many things we do and how you feel about your surgeon is very important as well. If you like him, chances are that he will like you as well. Out there in the surgery world, there is a thing that some surgeons say that you should operate on patients that you like as a general thing to follow. If you don’t like the patient, it might not be a good idea to operate on that person. This some rule should also apply to the patient. Some of the other things to look at are whether the doctor seems to be good in the social arena. If the doctor seems like he has a well rounded life, chances are that he will be well rounded in his care for you as well.  If your surgeon is not a very social person, it is likely that he won’t be social to you during his care for you as well.  Most people you meet put out an aura around them. Sometimes this aura is strong in good and bad ways.  Obviously, you definitely want to avoid the ones with the really bad aura. Sometimes this is so obvious. In my recent Summer Client Appreciation Event, I bring up the “Law of Giving” by Deepak Chopra. Out of all of his chapters, I think this one is the most beautiful.  These are clues to how to choose your surgeon.

At Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery, we are always trying to improve the way we do things. If there are ways we can improve, please let us know. Our mission is to provide unwavering quality care to improve people’s lives through facial plastic surgery and the YoungVitalizer. Please let us know if we are not following our mission statement. We will only see comments as constructive.

Rhinoplasty evaluating before and after pictures by Dr. Philip Young Bellevue

July 27th, 2012

Rhinoplasty evaluating before and after pictures by Dr. Philip Young Bellevue:  Before and after pictures are really important for you to see what you can expect from your rhinoplasty surgeon. A picture is worth a thousand words as they say. One thing you should really see is the before and afters from the profile view and even more importantly is seeing the results from the frontal view. The profile view is mainly a 2 dimensional view. It is much easier to get a good result on the profile view.  This is why many surgeons choose to show only the profile view. If you see your surgeon only showing the profile view it would be prudent for you to see more photos from the frontal view, the view you see when you look directly at a person. Which is the view that matters the most. If you only see the profile view on their websites, this should be something to worry about. The frontal view is important for see how the nose looks from a 3 dimensional aspect. The frontal view is all about shadows and will tell you what the nose will really look like. IT is the hardest view to achieve the best results and the best before and after photos.

This is a frontal view of a patient that had a rhinoplasty to narrow the tip and the nostril area. Notice that she is now wearing shorter hair.  You have to have confidence to wear short hair. She is really happy with her rhinoplasty results.

Minimally Invasive Facial Plastic Surgery – The YoungVitalizer

July 25th, 2012

Minimally Invasive Facial Plastic Surgery – The YoungVitalizer by Dr. Philip Young of Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery in Bellevue: We are starting a new blog category called Minimally Invasive Facial Plastic Surgery. With this subject we would like to talk about the YoungVitalizer the minimally invasive approach to facial rejuvenation. Most of the time when you think about minimally invasive appraoches you think that you might be getting something that is less effective. The purpose of this blog is to say that this is not always true. In fact, when we talk about the YoungVitalizer, is that we think this approach is an improvement to facial rejuvenation over face lifts, mid face lifts, cheek lifts, etc. We think the results you can get with the YoungVitalizer is much better than traditional approaches like face lifting etc. The downtime is much better in many ways, there are no incisions in the face that are needed with the YoungVitalizer, General Anesthesia is not required, discomfort is way less with the YoungVitalizer when compared to facelifts, etc. and other traditional procedures. How is that. Well it has to do with the way that we age. Aging is effected mainly through a volume loss. The YoungVitalizer replaces this loss and shapes your face in a natural way, the way that you aged. This is the reason why the results are better than traditional procedures.

Here is a video of Dr. Young explaining the YoungVitalizer on New Day Northwest:

Facial Beauty and how it is important to your life social, economically, physically

July 19th, 2012

Facial Beauty and how it is important to your life social, economically, physically by Dr. Philip Young of Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery: Facial beauty is so important. Most people, however, think it is some superficial trait. It can be seen that way. But, if you look beyond what is presented on the surface, it is probably the most important thing that will determine your fate in many aspects of your life. Facial beauty is really just order in the face. It is the order of important objects in the face. The order is very subtle and you can’t consciously pick it out. It is just something that your brain knows. The brain is able to interpret it faster and clearer than what you are able to concretely and objectively determine. This interpretation is very strong in your brain and your brain places a lot of importance on it. Anything out of order, will bring tension to the observer. This tension is something that people subconsciously do not like.  What happens in your everyday interactions is that your beauty can be the tipping factor for you in many situations.  This can be in the situation where you are applying for a job, getting promoted, getting elected to be president, etc.  The impact is obvious with sexual attraction and the benefits of beauty in this situation. But it is not so obvious sometimes in other areas of your life. So beauty is not superficial. In fact it is probably the most pervasive and deepest reaching trait we have.  You can learn more about Dr. Philip Young’s theory on facial beauty with this link.

Acne Scar Vitalizer Treatment: Improve your Acne Scars Through One Treatment by Dr. Philip Young Bellevue Washington

July 15th, 2012

Acne Scar Vitalizer Treatment: Improve your Acne Scars Through One Treatment by Dr. Philip Young Bellevue Washington:  The Acne Scar Vitalizer Treatment is another way of decreasing the number of procedures you need to do to improve your acne scarrring.acne scar treatment, acne scar reduction

If you look at the before picture in the images here, you will see box car scars (depressed scars with a larger surface area) and ice pick scars (depressed scars that are more pinpoint in appearance). With traditional approaches, you need to treat each area with multiple excisions, subcision and deep chemical peeling. After getting the scars to look more like the surrounding unscarred skin, I would then consider something for the superficial layers of the skin such as resurfacing. The before and afters show the results from just one procedure, the Acne Scar Vitalizer Treatment. This approach could transform acne scar treatment.

The YoungVitalizer’s positive effects on your skin by Dr. Young of Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery

July 11th, 2012

The YoungVitalizer’s positive effects on your skin by Dr. Young of Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery: The YoungVitalizer can have very positive effects on your skin by Dr. Young of Aesthetic Facial Plastic SurgeryHow does volumizing help your skin. It took me longer to realize the benefits of volumizing for the skin. But over the years, after showing patients pictures of before and afters, people noticed the improvement of the skin sometimes more than other effects from volumizing. How does it do that. This blog is dedicated to explaining how it works.

1st: The general distention and volumizing of the skin and face, makes the skin more taught. The effect is to have the skin flatter in most areas.

2nd: The stem cells that are brought in with the volumizing heals your skin as well

3rd: The increased distance that the facial muscles are placed away from the skin allows the skin to heal. You have skin cells that are constantly remodeling your skin. This increased separation allows your skin to decrease the skin wrinkles in your skin, etc.
