How do you treat bruising after lip augmentation

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Prevention is the key to bruising and bleeding. You should always stop high dose vitamin E, anti-inflammatories, aspirin, herbal medication, supplements and any blood thinners 2 weeks before and after your injection or procedures.

These are elements that affect your body’s ability to clot your blood. Hence, if you are on these things during the time of your injection, you will have more of a chance for bleeding and bruising.

I also never suggest Arnica. I recently did a literature search and found that there is no scientific evidence to support Arnica’s ability to prevent bleeding and bruising. In fact, there were actually more evidence of adverse, or bad, effects from Arnica than good effects.

Genetics play a part and some people are just more prone to bruising.

In terms of the size or your lips, you can do something to correct that. The key here is to choose the right surgeon. You want someone that has a great understanding of facial aesthetics or what makes a face beautiful or not. I have discovered a theory on aesthetics that no one has been able to think of before. Our current theories, prior to my discoveries, have recently been found to be flawed.

If you are dissatisfied with the size and shape of your lips you can have an injection Lip Augmentation to reduce the size of it. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can take away Restylane. But you have to go to a surgeon that has experience with it to have a successful outcome.

Lip Augmentation can be done with fat injections as well.

I refined an amazing volumizing procedure called “the YoungLift”.  This is an innovative technique that volumizes your face to bring out the younger and natural you without looking like you had something done.  This is not a facelift and requires no incisions.  Only pinpoint puncture sites are used and these heal imperceptibly.  The YoungLift can be done without general anesthesia and without drains, and large bandages.  You also have a lot less downtime and discomfort compared with traditional facelift procedures.  Dr Young employs the very best techniques from around the world into one volumizing procedure and he uses his internationally acclaimed understanding of facial beauty to create the youthful volume you once had. The YoungLift techniques can help with filling up the lips as well.  You can great results with fat injections in the lips.

Options for lip enhancement

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

There are many options for Lip Augmentation, including filling and surgical approaches. Filling up the lips is perhaps the best way to rejuvenate the lips.  Careful positioning of the filler substance within the lips will bring more youth to the lips and give it that sexy look. Fillers are a short term option and fat injections offer more long term correction.

Surgical procedures can remove small amounts of skin and can also be used to move around the substance of the lips inside your mouth to augment your lips in a beautiful way. But all of these mean nothing if your surgeon doesn’t have the right goals in mind.

Facial Beauty or the understanding of facial beauty is essential for surgeons to formulate these goals that we reach for. In the lips, your upper lip should really never be too much bigger than 1/2 the height of the lower lip. Also, the pucker created by the lip should be a certain size in the upper and lower lips.

Botox used to fill up the lips?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Facial Fillerslike Restylane and Juvederm are really for filling up your lips. Botox can give a little element of filling by relaxing the lip muscles to allow them to volumize through the relaxation. But this effect is subtle. If you really want to volumize your lips, go with a filler. One thing you should know is that botox can again relax the lip muscles, but a benefit includes decreasing the lip lines through the muscle relaxation.

Fat Transfer are another option to fill up the lips and when done right can last for years.  Once the fat finds a blood supply it will live like normal tissue.  Technique is crucial.

Radiesse good for lip enhancement?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Radiesse is generally avoided in the lips due to the bumps and nodules that it can create. Restylane is the best in the lips. Juvederm can also be used in the lips as well. Both of these products have a limited longevity and can last from 6 months to a year.  Fat injections are an option in the lips but take a lot of experience and knowledge of lip anatomy and dynamics to create the best result.

Fat transfer, when done well, can last years. But you want to go to a surgeon that has experience doing these in the lips. The length of time fat lasts is tightly related to the technique that is being used. You have to traumatize the fat as little as possible and when you place the fat it has to be layered in small amounts so that the fat can survive and find its own blood supply and environment.

Results that I can expect for collagen injections to the lips?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Collagen injections have largely been replaced by Hyaluronic Acids such as Restylane, Juvederm. The reason for this is that hyaluronic acids last longer. Collagen Lip Augmentation lasts 3-6 months and the hyaluronic acids can last from 6months to a year. This has been proven in head to head studies comparing them. Also, collagen injections usually require a skin test and time to wait for the results. There are some collagen injectables that don’t require a skin test and they have gained some popularity but not as much as hyaluronic acids. Importantly, you should go to someone who knows aesthetics and facial beauty. This will avoid results like the Octa-Mom, Meg Ryan, Heidi from the Hills, Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Murphy, etc. The reason for this is that our understanding of aesthetics is not solid at this point. We really don’t know how large the upper and lower lip should be.

Fat can also be used in the lips and when done right can last for years.  I came up with an exciting volumizing technique below.

Do doctors make the upper and lower lips the same size and what is best?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The upper lips should be smaller than the lower lip always. In fact, the upper lip should be about 1/2 the size as the lower lips to maintain the correct balance within the face. The puckering that you create with lip augmentation should also be very specific. The upper lip puckering should be in the central 1/4 or about an iris width. The lower lip pucker should be about 3 iris widths. The height of the upper and lower lips should be about 1/2 and 1 iris widths respectively.

Lip Augmentation can be done with fat injections as well.

After 3 laser facials still see fine lines around the mouth.

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

This patient had treatment somewhere else and I was just answering a question for this patient.

WithLaser Resurfacingit takes time for the collagen to repair and help decrease more wrinkles or so most people say. In my experience, the results that you get the first month is likely the most noticeable and after that the results are more subtle with the “naked eye”. When done on a more aggressive scale, you will notice more improvement more early on such as a month or two. 12 months is a little long in my opinion to notice much more difference. In terms of the lip lines, you might want to approach it more aggressively with the laser. Dermabrasion can also work wonders here.

In addition, you may want to consider plumping up your lips. A lot of the lip lines are created due to a loss of volume in the lips and the area around your mouth. Fat Transfer and fillers are great at creating this volume in the long and short term respectively.

Lower Lip Asymmetry and lumps after Juvederm

Monday, June 29th, 2009

In my experience, when there is extra oozing in the area, Juvederm is likely to pull in more volume than Restylane and can give you extra swelling in the area that has more oozing. This will go down over the course of a week. Don’t worry though you can always take some of the hyaluronic acid away with an enzyme injection consisting of hyaluronidase or wydase.

This can be done in a judicious way to make it look the way you want it to look.  the same goes for the lump. Massage is another way to help alleviate the differences.  You should ask your doctor to help you though this.  Massage is less likely to improve the lump and my experience the enzyme injections can really help in this situation.

I refined an amazing volumizing procedure called “the YoungVitalizer”. Non Surgical way to rejuvenate the midface

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Volumizing for the midface is one of the best ways to rejuvenate this area. Facial Fillers and Fat Transfer procedures can markedly bring youth to this area in a natural way.  Dermal fillers are a non surgical way to do this without long incisions but the effect is short lived lasting from 6 months to a year or more, depending on the product.  Fat injections are another option that also requires no incisions just small puncture holes to achieve beautiful results that can last years up to 10 years or more.  Volumizing is a great alternative to midface rejuvenation.

Improving Glabellar lines with botox and fillers

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

The glabellar area looks the way it does when you lose volume in this area as you age. Botox is a temporary fix to paralyze the muscles for a 3-6month period. This keeps the muscles from working and creating and deepening the wrinkles in this area. Botox doesn’t improve the volume loss. If you look at infants and children you will notice that the glabellar area is quite a bit fuller than the older individual and really the whole forehead is much more volumized in youth.

Facial Fillersand Fat Transfer are a great way to improve the glabellar region and the lines that form in this area. The filling removes the muscles from the skin and makes it harder for the muscle to actually create the wrinkles. Fat injections also help break up the fibrous tissue that can sometimes hold down the wrinkles in their current wrinkled state.
