What is a liquid facelift?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

A liquid facelift has not been clearly defined, just like a mini facelift and a full facelift and all the types of facelifting. All of these terms can mean different things to different surgeons around the world. What I have been exposed to, in regards to a liquid facelift, includes using a combination of Botox and dermal fillers.

Botox or Dysport can be used in certain areas of the face to allow your facial muscles to lift the face in a subtle way. When botox is applied to the eye and forehead area, you can subtly elevate the eyebrows. When Botox is used around the eyes and closer to the smiling muscles you can prevent the smiling muscles from elevating the mouth when a person smiles in such a way that the folds around the mouth will not be as prominent and crows feet also will be lessened.

Dermal fillers can be used to fill up the lost volume in the face, which can reverse the signs of aging within the face. A liquid facelift will only subtly change the face and will not be as dramatic as a facelift as it is done in the traditional way.

Another way of lifting the face through liquids is through facial fat transfer in the same way that dermal fillers can fill up the face. But facial fat transfer can be a way to more dramatically revolumize the face and reverse aging.

I refined an amazing volumizing procedure called “the YoungLift”.  This is an innovative technique that volumizes your face to bring out the younger and natural you without looking like you had something done.  This is not a facelift and requires no incisions.  Only pinpoint puncture sites are used and these heal imperceptibly.  The YoungLift can be done without general anesthesia and without drains, and large bandages.  You also have a lot less downtime and discomfort compared with traditional facelift procedures.  Dr Young employs the very best techniques from around the world into one volumizing procedure and he uses his internationally acclaimed understanding of facial beauty to create the youthful volume you once had.

What are true facelift incisions and information on types of incisions

Friday, June 26th, 2009

It really depends on what you and other patients desire. You should go to a surgeon who listens to you and does everything he can for you.

Temple incisions are used but it depends, again, on what you want. This area of incision does help and allow the surgeon to bring the lift a little higher and work more on the area around your mouth and the lines around it.

This particular patient had a facelift by another surgeon and complained that her results were gone at 3 months. Three months is definitely not a long term result. But don’t worry, there are ways to help you. You will likely need to have it done again. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.  Sometimes, around the upper area of the mouth, volumizing can really rejuvenate a persons face. This can be done with fat or other fillers.

This is an answer to a person who had extremely loose facial skin

Friday, June 26th, 2009

It will all depend on how you really look. Volumizing can help your loss of volume which can start in your 20’s and progress. Fat Transfer is a great, natural way to plump up your lossed volume and can last 10 plus years. Fillers are another short term option. Volumizing takes up extra space and helps to fill in the extra skin. Facelifts can remove the extra skin that the filling doesn’t fill out appropriately.

In my opinion, filling first and then removing extra skin is the best sequence. Also, you might have a condition that predisposes you to laxity in your skin. This should be looked into and may be a contraindication to facelift surgeries. Don’t worry there are excellent surgeons out there with forward thinking minds and exquisite skill to help you.

Blepharoplasty for puffiness under the eyes

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Bags under the eyelid can be from many things including protruding fat from under your eyes, the muscle surrounding your eye could be drooping over your smiling muscles, and it can most likely be a loss of volume under your eyes. As you and everyone ages, you lose volume from your whole face including where your cheeks are under your eyes.

Lower blepharoplasty involves removing fat from under your eyes, and also sometimes involves removal of skin. This procedure can make you look better but many times it doesn’t fully make you look younger and better. Volumizing your face can do a lot to make you look younger and better. This can be done with fat and other fillers. A midface lift can also help but, again, this may not make you look naturally younger and better.

What is the success rate after lower eyelid pinch blepharoplasty

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Lower blepharoplasty involves removing fat from under your eyes, and also sometimes involves removal of skin. A skin pinch is a minimally invasive procedure that is used just to remove a small amount of skin. The benefit of doing so is that you avoid going through the other layers of tissue in your lower eyelid which can lead to the scarring that you are afraid of and the pulling of the lower eyelid downward.  One thing to realize is that many of these procedures remove tissue. Oftentimes adding tissue is what can make the difference. As you age, you lose volume in your face. Volumizing your face can do a lot to make you look younger and better. This can be done with fat and other fillers.

indent after steroid injections after lower eyelid blepharoplasty

Friday, June 26th, 2009

This is a question I answered regarding a procedure done by another physician.

It really depends what the situation really is. You really have to come in for us to see you and to assess what can be done. If there is an indent, some type of filler can be used.

Fat injections are another way to fill in a depressed area with minimal incisions. The discoloration will improve with time and if it doesn’t go away over the course of the months you can have treatments to improve the appearance.

Aging eyes at 27?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I see the extra skin in your upper eyelids. I hope that is what you are talking about. This happens when you lose volume around your eyes which happens when you age. Underneath your brow, you slowly lose fat, connective tissue within your skin that causes the skin to sag downward because of the reduction of volume. During the seasons, depending on how much water you drink and what your nutritional intake is, you will have a different state of volume. This can account for the different appearances that you seem to be having when you look at yourself at different points in time.

Of course, you should have a complete medical evaluation to make sure that there is nothing else going on that could account this including issues with your kidney, liver, and even thyroid. Allergies can also play a factor. When everything else checks out fine, aging might be the sole cause. The answer to this includes filling back the volume or doing an null and/or Brow Lift. Although, you seem to have a fine position for your brows.

Filling your eyebrow and upper eyelids with volume is the most natural way to achieve more youthful looking eyes.  This can be done with small puncture holes that heal essentially imperceptibly.  The YoungLift is my unique and amazing technique to volumize the face using a person’s own tissues.  The YoungLift is done without incisions, without General Anesthesia, and the recovery is many times faster than traditional procedures. I incorporate my internationally acclaimed theory on aesthetics to bring out the younger and natural you.  This is ideal in a younger person to restore lost volume in this case.

Fat injections complications resolved through a blepharoplasty

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

This particular person had lumps from Fat Transfer to the lower eyelid and upper cheek. This is a question that I answered for someone who had a procedure by another physician.

Lumps and Bumps can happen without almost anything that you do when you manipulate the tissues. When they are around the eyes, it’s pretty hard to mask their appearance. I can appreciate the concerns. There are many things that can be done to help this.

First, steroid injections can help by causing some of the fat to be dissolved by the body through the action of the steroids. There are risks with the use of steroids so you should be aware of these before undergoing these injections. This course may take several injections, and it may take a couple of months for the steroids to fully work.

The other option is to actually make an incision and take the fat out.

The third option is to actually carry out micro liposuction to take the fat away. Going to someone with a lot of experience with fat grafting can help avoid some of these issues, but even the best will have some lumps.

Fat grafting is a very complicated process for the surgeon and there a lot of steps that go into this procedure. Each step can affect the survival of the fat which can lead to lumps because some cells survive and some cells don’t. The more reliable the process you have the better chance you will get even survival of the fat and hence a better result. Its all in the technique!

The YoungLift is a technique that I refined which incorporates a persons own tissue to volumize the whole face for the most natural results for a younger look.

Under eye loose skin and wrinkles after lower eyelid blepharoplasty

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

This is a question that I answered for someone who had a procedure by another physician.

The loose skin under your eyes can be improved by doing a pinch blepharoplasty technique without increasing your risk of your lower eyelids getting pulled down like a hound dog. This pinch blepharoplasty technique is very simple and can be done in under an hour and usually takes 30 minutes. I wouldn’t be too upset. I’m sure your doctor will be happy to do this for you.

One thing that can help those wrinkles and make you look more natural is too add volume under your lower eyes through dermal fillers or fat injections. This is a more natural way to improve the appearance of your lower eyelids and any sunken cheek type of appearance. This can lift your cheek and help remove the bags under eyes and improve the dark circles under your eyes. This is definitely a great option for this area.

The YoungLift is an amazing procedure that can volumize the lower eyelid area and upper cheek area without incisions, general anesthesia, and many times the long recovery associated with traditional procedures.

Crepey Skin and Hollow Eyes after Blepharoplasty

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

This is a question that I answered for someone who had a procedure by another physician.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty entails fat removal and skin removal from the lower eyelids. This is part of the reductive philosophy that has dominated surgeons, and plastic surgeons.

An analogy is that of a grape when it loses its volume and turns into a raisin. Based on traditional approaches, a plastic surgeon would take that raisin and remove the skin of the raisin to make it into really just a smaller grape. But based on this analogy, the smaller grape would not look like the grape that it used to. This same idea applies to a person’s face.

A person loses volume as they age. When people have their tissues taken in a reductive manner, they will no longer look the same as they did when they were young. The youthful face looks the way it does because of that volume. A person may look a little better after these reductive type of procedures such as lower eyelid blepharoplasty, but not necessarily better in a younger and natural way.

Volumizing a persons face and turning the face from a raisin back into a more youthful looking grape is the most natural way of making a person look younger in a natural way. What you can do for the sunken appearance is to bring back the volume. Fat injections is the most natural substance to use, and when applied to the lower eyelid and cheek, this procedure can make a person look a lot more natural and younger than lower blepharoplasty.

The YoungLift is agreat way to augment the face, lower eyelid, and upper cheek area by employing a person’s own tissue. The results are natural and people can look younger and still look like themselves.
