Renee Zellweger Plastic Surgery Results

Beverly Hills Plastic surgeon EXCLUSIVELY weighs in on Renee Zellweger's new look!

I had many clients and other people mention about Renee Zellweger’s plastic surgery so I thought I weigh in on her results. She does look different. I think with celebrities we have in our minds a set picture of what they look like and there are many things that are related to this person which includes all of her movies. Over time people change and we see a gradual transition and we are okay with that. A sudden change presents more of a shock for people in this case.

The article discusses laser resurfacing, botox, fillers, upper eyelid lift and browlift. I think that all of those things could have been done but I don’t think that she had a brow lift. An eyelift can have a major impact on someone’s looks. A interesting study looked at the eye movements one makes when analyzing a new face and what we find, not surprisingly is that the iris is where we spend the most time looking at. This was pretty important in my discovery of a new theory on facial beauty. This is also the reason that if you do something to the eyes, your perception of what a person looks like will be drastically altered like it is in this case. In my expert opinion, I see that the major changes that have taken place is in the eyes and specifically an upper eyelid lift is what she had done and not much has changed. But because it was her eyes, a major impact and change was Perceived.

Beverly Hills Housewives and Plastic Surgery

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

by Bellevue | Seattle’s Dr. Philip Young | Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery:

I watch this show with my wife every week.  Not just this one, but we watch all the housewives series.  The Beverly Hills Housewives are gorgeous in my opinion.  Lisa Vanderpump is, in my assessment of facial aesthetics, the most stunning of all the housewives.  I believe she might be the oldest of the group.  I think Adrienne Maloof is gorgeous as well.  She happens to be my colleagues wife, Paul Nassif who is an excellent surgeon.  He trained me while I was at USC’s during my Head and Neck Surgery residency / Facial Plastic Surgery training.  All the housewives are stunning in their own way.

I was reading a blog or something one day about what plastic surgery they have done.  To me it doesn’t look like they have had much done except superficial treatments like botox or fillers, in my opinion.  Taylor appears to have had some lip augmentation which she has confirmed that has had issues.  I think they have been augmented more than the lower lip.  When this happens there is always a disconnect.  Lip augmentation was one of the primary reasons that I started to pursue finding more answers to facial aesthetics.  My theory believes that the upper lip should be half the size of the lower lip and not much more.  The lower lip is the center of attention.  If you look at any persons face and concentrate on the lower lip, you will see that most of the light that is reflected back to you is coming from the lower lip and not the upper lip.  Taylor’s augmentation looks like it might be a permalip or some implant.  I think Taylor is gorgeous even though she might think her lips are not as optimal as they should.  I think all she would need would be to take the implants out and consider a temporary filler for the time being and possibly other forms of augmentation including v-y advancements, fat injections or replacement of the implant in a better position.

Hope this was interesting

Dr Philip Young MD’s thoughts on Famous people as patients and how he takes a different approach with this group when it comes to plastic surgery (Seattle, WASH)

Friday, July 30th, 2010

I have had the pleasure to operate on many people that are of significant backgrounds.  These people ranges from owners of very large companies, and very close family members of famous A listers from the acting and music industry.   One thing I have learned is that with these people you have to stick with what you believe in and have learned all of these years.  Because people of influence usually get there way, it is hard at times to stick with your principles.  What I’ve learned is that you have to stick with your principles otherwise you could give them a result that they don’t like ultimately in the end. I recently had a family member of a famous person.  They wanted something that I felt wouldn’t get a good result.  I had to be adamant that this wasn’t a good idea.  Sometimes, you have to figure out what is best for these patients and try to get them to believe in what you are doing.  If they don’t believe in what you are doing and are adamant about their own ideas, I refuse to do surgery for them.  I do this no matter how famous they are.  You can’t let their influence and their fame guide your professional and medical judgement.  I think based on my experience with this group that this is what goes on much in Hollywood where less than perfect results occur.  These results earlier in my career prompted me to find answers to aesthetics.  It culminated in my theory on facial beauty called the Circles of Prominence.  Here is a copy of my facial beauty paper on my website.

Dr Young’s ideas on Singer Charice and her quests to change her look through Plastic Surgery (Bellevue, Washington)

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Charice is a wonderful singer as I have seen her perform on Oprah.  Recently, there has been information on her seeking the advice from plastic surgeons.  What has been talked about is her recent use of botox for her episode on Glee.  Botox is great for younger people to keep the wrinkles at bay.  Especially when they get nervous and start to create alot of wrinkles in their forehead, in between their eyes and crows feet.  In can give people the impression that they are more relaxed than what is really going on inside.  Many times when people get nervous they may lose their sense of how they are appearing.  They crunch their eyebrows and it makes them look mean.  They raise their eyebrows when they get nervous and you can tell they are nervous.  Botox comes all of those things down and you look better, more relaxed, and not as nervous.

She also is inquiring about make her face less round and what she can do to make her self look better.  I did an analysis on her based on my theory on facial aesthetics.  Although her face is tilted.  In general what the diagonal lines are showing you is that her cheeks and lower cheek areas are really dominate.  The middle oblique, and the vertial line is where the shadowing should be increasing markedly as it you go from lateral and inferiorly.  But  you see in the picture that her cheeks still are showing a lot of highlight in this area.  This is seen in the first figure.  The second are before and afters of my morphing to show you how she would look with some jaw and cheek reduction surgery and rhinoplasty.  I think she could look a lot better by narrowing her face and also making her nose a little smaller in the tip area.  She might also need some mesotherapy or microliposuction in her cheeks.

Heidi Montag’s recent 10 procedures in one day topic

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Its big news that Heidi Montag had 10 procedures in one day.  In my opinion, that might be a little too much surgery in one day.  Although all of this information may be false. Who really knows but her and her doctor and the people in the room that day how many surgeries she really had.  I think based on looking at her pictures that she did appear to have had chin reduction, a rhinoplasty, possibly a browlift, and cheek enhancement.  Based on the pictures, I think she looks better before all of her procedures.  The chin reduction surgery has made her face actually look more square and more masculine. Although she mentions that she was teased as a child about her chin, I think the chin gave her lower face a pointier appearance which as an overall affect made her face appear more pear shaped.  Now that the chin is reduced, the face has lost the pear appearance and has been squared off like many male faces.  Her changes in her nose, possibly due to a rhinoplasty, has actually lengthed the appearance of the middle part of her face.  With that change, her face looks longer and less proportionate.  the distance between her eyes, nasal tip and lower lip should all be separated by equal distances and ideally 3 iris widths.  Her nose looks longer and I think her face has loss some beauty points. I think she might have also has her cheeks augmented.  This appears to have made her cheeks look wider.  I think that has also masculinized her face.  The cheek augmentation should have been more anteriorly closer to the eye and just outside (or lateral to) the eye.  The browlift, if it was done, is questionably needed at best.

When I see patients that request things that I don’t think needs to be done, I will tell them exactly what I think.  If I feel strongly enough, I refuse service to them.  If the procedure they are requesting is not consistent with my beliefs of what would enhance their aesthetics, it takes a lot of influencing for me to do what they request.  Although, I always have to balance my aesthetic beliefs with the desire of the patients.  Ultimately, what the patients wants is still very important.  But I have a long discussion with them if their desires are quite different then what I think will help them.

What is contributing to the look of something done in Jessica Simpson’s Lips

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

jessica-simpson-lipsI wanted to comment on some blogs about Jessica Simpson’s Lips and why she has received some negative comments regarding her lips.  Her lips are a common occurence in Hollywood.  In a short explanation, basically her upper lips are made too big relative to her lower lips.  I discovered a new theory on facial beauty called the Circles of Prominence. From this I have found that the upper lips should not be more than 1/2 the size of the lower lips in vertical dimension.  In addition the puckering that is created by the volume in the lips and the light that shines back at the observer should only be one iris width wide and 1/2 iris width in vertical height in the upper lips.  A little more is okay but too much more and then you will disrupt the natural balance.  The lower lip should have the most attention in the mouth region.  The height of the lower lip should be one iris width and the puckering of the lower lip should be 3 iris widths.  Jessican has her lower lips to wide, but the vertical dimension is okay.  The upper lips are augmented too much in the horizontal plane, meaning that it is too large as you go side to side.  She really should have had her upper lips plumped up in the center part of her lips mostly and it should be about one iris width wide.  To learn more you can go to my website www.drphilipyoung.com.

Did Lady Gaga have a rhinoplasty

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

lady_gaga_nose I wanted to talk a little about whether Lady Gaga had a Rhinoplasty (nose job / plastic surgery of the nose / nose plastic surgery / nose cosmetic surgery / rino plasty). One can never be sure, I guess, but it appears to me that she has had some refinement of her nasal structures.  Her nasal tip appears narrower and more refined.  Her nasal hump looks like it was made a little lower as well.  Overall I think it looks great.  I think that she could even get a little more taken from her nasal bridge and her nasal tip made a little smaller.  The only drawback with this is that she wouldn’t look the same and it would actually make her look not like herself and she could lose her identity.  This situation appeared to happen with Jennifer Grey.  Although she looks much prettier, it made her look totally different and that might have hurt her career possibly.  If you have any questions on rhinoplasty you can always email me at [email protected].

Ashley Simpson’s Plastic Surgery of her nose

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

ashlee_simpson_plastic_surgeryashlee_simpson_plastic_surgery1 I just wanted to comment on Ashlee Simpson’s possible Rhinoplasty (nose job / plastic surgery of the nose / nose plastic surgery / nose cosmetic surgery / rino plasty).  In the before pictures she had a significant prominence on her nasal bridge area and after pictures show that it is markedly lower and her tip appears refined as well.  From a facial plastic surgery perspective, this is called lowering the dorsal hump, and tip rhinoplasty.  I’m not totally sure if she had a rhinoplasty but her pictures seem to suggest so. The way surgeons do this is by using these medical grade metal files that take down the dorsal hump of the nasal bridge incrementally.  With a surgical knife the cartilage that is contributing to the hump is also incrementally lowered.  The tip is usually refined by taking away the top parts of the cartilages that are contributing to the bulbous portion of the nasal tip.  Sutures are then used to refine the nasal tip by narrowing the tip together.  Many surgeons do this through an open rhinoplasty where they make an incision under the nose through a 3mm incision.  Some surgeons market the closed approach where they do the rhinoplasty through incisions inside the nostril.  I prefer to do rhinoplasties in an open fashion because I believe you get more accurate results and you cut down on revisions and touchups.  I’ve heard that Dr Raj Kanodia did her nose job. I’ve visited him in surgery before and he prefers to do surgery through a closed approach.

Bottom line, I think Ashley looks super after her possible rhinoplasty.  If you have any questions on rhinoplasty you can always email me at [email protected].

Stephanie Pratt and her new look

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

normal-stephanie-pratt_224x401stephanie-pratt-plastic-surgery_249x401Apparently there is a log of buzz regarding Stephanie Pratt’s Plastic Surgery.  I personally think she looks great.  Based on the pictures I think that she might have had some refinement of her nose which looks very well done.  She also might have had some lip enhancement with injectible fillers (restylane / juverderm / perlane / cosmoderm / collagen).  Whoever did her lip injections did well.  Many hollywood stars are getting their lips changed in a way that doesn’t enhance their looks in my opinion.  You can see my theory on facial beauty at this link: http://www.drphilipyoung.com/pdf/circles_of_prominence.pdf.  This can be found on my website: http://www.drphilipyoung.com/harmony.html.  Most stars get their lips enlarged so that the upper lip is close to the size of the lower lip.  If you take a look at someone next to you, what you will notice is that most of the light is directed at the lower lip.  Hence the most attention shouldbe on the lower lip.  This can be seen in Stephanie’s photos as well.  You never want to make the upper lip the same size as the lower lip.  The attention is taken away from the lower lip and ends up breaking up the balance in the mouth region. The upper lip should be half the size of the upper lip at most.  The highlight of the puckering should be no more than 3 iris widths (the colored portion of the eye) otherwise the viewers mind will interpret the lip as being too big.

Stephanie Pratt and her rhinoplasty/ nose job?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

stephanie pratt

From the looks of the picture, it appears that Stephanie Pratt has some changes to her nose which could very well be from a Rhinoplasty.  From my eye, her nasal tip looks significantly different.  The tip is rotated higher and it is smaller in size. Also the upper portions of the nasal tip has been made smaller as well. Her bulbous tip has been refined so that is is closer to the size of her iris.  It is a really good job done by her plastic surgeon.   She does have a narrowing in the area above her nasal tip that could have been improved to a little larger width like the rest of her nose and hence have more harmony for the entire nasal bridge.  Based on my theory on facial beauty called the Facial Beautyher tip is near ideal size and shape!
